Shakespeare Club Rules!

Post  Guest on Tue May 06, 2008 6:27 pm

Ok, well a lot of people tease me for my passion with Shakespeare, but I feel comfort in reading his poems and plays. My favorite is Romeo and Juliet, although all of his work is good. I feel a strong connection to Juliet and all the dilemmas she faces, and I find the love between Romeo and Juliet so touching! I have felt much like Juliet at times. It is so bitter sweet, and although Rome blames fate, it can really be attributed back to his own actions. For example, when Mercutio is slain, "under Romeo's hand" and he curses both the Montagues and the Capulets. Although the curse is fated, he would not be cursed if he had not ben so rash and...sorry, I could go on like this all day. Well, to get back to the point, I am in the advanced English class, but in the normal English class, the students are reading Romeo and Juliet. They all tease me about loving that story, because they find it boring, and hard to read. I feel sorry for them, because they cant feel the full comfort I feel when I read Shakespeare. I really wish that they would stop teasing me long enough for me to read to them. Just a little bit, maybe only one scene of the play. I wish I could enlighten them. Any suggestions? I really need advice. Thanks!

So there's many ways to attack this problem.
first, ignore then.
but you've probably heard that many times.
but hears what you may wanna consider trying.
just be nice to them as weird as it may sound.
don't get offended. just let it go when they're hurtful.
just be nice they'll lay off eventually.
but it may not work at first but, with time it could stop.
besides kids are immature.
in the end it should be fine

If there's a boy you like, you could always quote him Shakespeare lines. Other than that, just invite people to the club. There's not much else you can do. If they don't like it, than they just don't like it and there's not much else you can do to fix it. Trust me, I have tried with mountain climbing, and I don't seem to have convinced anybody yet how cool it is, no matter how hard I try.

well actually, there is a guy I like. I love you not that I'd tell him, because that is awkward, but he is sort of cute in a clumsy sort of way. Kind of like a puppy that hasn't grown into its paws yet. I think he likes me, but I am really not sure. My friends think he is ugly, but I think he is , well, i don't usually use this word, but, "hot". He is the sweetest guy, who always notices the little nice things I do, and compliments me over the littlest things. He is so sensitive, but not too sensitive. Just the right amount. He i good at gymnastics...he showed me a cartweel the other day! I feel so flustered and strange around him. drunken I don't know what to say, so instead I just curl up with a book and enter the fabulous world of poetry. study I just feel so embarassed, and I wish I could really talk to him. Embarassed he problem is, I don't think he likes poetry, so I can't read him poetry without him thinking I am really awkward. I just don't know what to do. I could ask a friend to sk him, but that seems so awkward. I am just confused and ... ugh, it is so bitter sweet.

That is very nice. I think that you should start up a conversation with him, and try to become friends at first. Once you have a strong basis of friendship, you should tell him how you feel about him. I don't believe that physical appearance matters very much, and I'm glad that you appreciate him for who he is. People always say that the little things count the most, something I have not quite figured out yet. You should not have a friend ask him, you should do it yourself. Just take your time and see how he feels about you. I don't know about him, but I always appreciate it so much if someone is willing to accept me as a whole person and not just pick out the parts they want and throw away the rest. You should listen when he talks about good days and bad days, and it definitely says something if he can trust you not to judge him for his problems. I know what you mean about how bittersweet it can be at times. Just start out slowly and establish a base of friendship first, and see where you are from there. Maybe he likes you too!

That does'nt sound very nice! Evil or Very Mad Instead of causing conflict, can't you think of something constructive to say? Only a bully would say something like that!
